Heres a cautionary tale of why too much exercise worsens bad behaviour in dogs and creates a cycle of hyperactivity:
Wiz the Border Collie was in big trouble for his bad behaviour.
“I can’t keep him if he’s like this,” said Matt, his owner, “You see my wife says he goes or I do!” … tears welled, “But he’s my mate and I’ll do anything to get him right.”
Wiz never heard a word because he was too busy spinning and barking hysterically at the monkeys which had come to raid my kitchen - and when they left to break into the house next door, Wiz was so into Hip-hop-howl, Rap ‘n Yap mode, he hadn’t noticed them leave so Matt ‘took charge’ and the game was really on … the more he screamed, “No!” the more Wiz heard, “Go!”
“See what I mean!” yelled Matt, “And our garden looks like a meteor site because he never rests!” Continue Reading
Today I’m spot lighting the most maligned and arguably the most tortured and frequently eaten animal of all … this article is all about pigs. Demonised by some religions, scorned by others, called dirty, filthy, fat and greedy, the tender-hearted porker truly has a hard luck story to tell.
I’m constantly asked about moving overseas regarding relocating pets to other counties and what quarantine times are involved, so here they. Please bear in mind rules and regulations change constantly and the information I have provided here is condensed. Kindly also note I have used the word ‘quarantine’ to refer to a specifically recognised quarantine kennel/facility.

I remember the first night away from his Mom and siblings - Wolfie settled down in my bedroom as though he owned it … neither a squeak nor a whimper passed his lips and I knew he was well prepared for life. Unfortunately, I was ill prepared for the result of his ‘last supper’ which took me most of the next day to clean up … and that was the only time Wolfie ever had an accident or put a paw out of place. Probably the most common mistake people make is to believe their dog is mutt-friendly because it lives with other dogs. But this is not the case, because what they fail to realize is that dogs in the family are a total different story to stranger dogs, and that a family vs enemy mindset applies. Continue Reading

Our pets, no matter what species, are very precious to most of us and are in fact accepted as members of our family, which is the way I believe it should be. And as a result, their health should always be paramount and as important to us as the health of our human family members. Let’s face it, some of the smooth-skinned-two leggeds should be taking tips from them when it comes to loyalty, patience and unconditional love. Continue Reading
