Did you know all our dogs are at least 85% wolf? Add 42 sharp teeth to the equation and the answer is a very sobering thought … and yes I am referring to all dogs across the board, including Chihuahuas and Great Danes. You see, we humans, in our pursuit of the easy life, have re-designed the original wolf ancestor to produce our domestic dog by selectively breeding over the centuries, and we’ve come up with a winner. What else comes tailor made, in a choice of assorted shapes, colours, sizes, temperaments and abilities, all of which are ideally suited to do our ‘donkey’ work for us? Continue Reading

This Golden Labrador owner is fed up with her dog’s destructive behaviour. He chews everything in sight, demolishes the garden and refuses to do his business on the grass where he is supposed to. What is the reason for his behaviour?

I have a maltese and a cross yorkie terrier who are my babies. I also have an 8-month old baby girl who is starting to take an interest in my dogs and wants to touch them. Obviously both dogs are a bit bent out of shape with the new addition to the family but the maltese at least lets my baby touch him. The yorkie however growls at her and I am afraid that she is going to bite my baby. What can I do to ease my yorkie and get her to accept my baby girl (or at least not snap at her) as they are all my children. Please help!

Hi I have a Yorkshire Terrier Female. She is totally our little baby and is 2 years old. She hates getting her feet wet on the lawn and therefore wee’s in the house. We have tried numerous methods to house train her to no avail. Any suggestions will be appreciated. We do not believe in shouting or scolding her.

Hi
We have recently adopted a 1year old Jack Russel. She gets loads of attention, but still won’t allow my 7 year old Labrador to come near me. She growls and bites. The Labrador is an easy-going dog, but it is really irritating to have this little Jack Russel biting her all the time. Also, she wees in the Labrador’s food bowl as soon as she sees her eating. What can we do? (The Lab is also a bitch.) Thanks!
