Lisa’s female dog is very afraid of thunderstorms and becomes very anxious at the loud noises involved. What is the best course of action she can take to ease her dog’s fears.

Question

I have a 5 year old female labrador retriever. She has become extremely anxious and afraid during thunderstorms. She does not let us console her and we are unable to calm her down. I feel so sorry for her. Is there anything we can do?

Hi Lisa
All you can do is allow your dog access to your house when she is traumatized by thunder. She will want to hide somewhere safe and dark (like under a bed) and I’m afraid trying to console her will only make matters worse.

Firework season is coming up soon when millions of pets all over the country suffer the same fate and sadly land up dying as a result of blind terror.
Take care
Glynne
