Diane’s son has just bought a pitbull puppy, and she wants to know how vicious they really are. Is her little Yorkshire Terrier in any danger?

My son has just bought himself a Pitbull. The little thing is only 6 weeks old. We have heard a lot about Pitbull’s and that they are very vicious. Is this true? He has a lot of young friends with babies and we are a bit worried that when the dog gets older - he may attack the children. We have a yorkie and would like them to get to know each other because when we visit, I would like to take PNut (yorkie) with, without having to worry.

There are Pitbulls, and there are Pitbulls. Get it?
And there are also brave, macho owners who get these dogs to enhance their image and do their biting for them! In the same token, there are also responsible owners who will take their dog to obedience classes and make sure it is properly trained and socialized … although even then one can’t be sure because Pitbulls are bred to fight … it’s in their genes.
Anyhow, you will know which type your son is … if not, you will very soon know whether the dog is to be trusted or not!
My advice is once Baby-paws grows up, keep your little Yorkie well clear of harm’s way.
