She adjusted rather well to the change, and was super excited that she is living with me now instead of my parents (she seems to have been recentful when I left her there to go to college). She is super affectionate, intellegent, and a quick study, but she is also stubburn, and often has selective hearing. For the first few weeks I had to establish dominence. If I told her to do something that she did not want to do, and enforced that she did it, she would growl, and later would nip or grab at me (then be apologetic later). I stopped this by placing myself as alpha by grabbing the nap of her neck, flipping her onto her back, and holding her there for a few minutes everytime she even growled over something that was not a threat to her. She imediately submitted, and lowered herself on the heirarchy, and that behavior stopped. She became much less resistant, and seemed happier with less responsibility on her shoulders, but then another behavior started. My boyfriend moved in a few doors down, and I started bringing her with me to hang out at his apartment (she has a howling behavior when she is seporated from me, and I try to avoid using a trailing collar unless I am completely unable to be home, because that is the only deterent we have found that works). She has always had a problem with men, but she has always liked him. He plays with her, gives her toys and bones, and has been accepting towards her. She does not seem to think he is a threat, and even learns tricks from him weekly. He has helped her overcome a fear of closed spaces so now she barrels into them to get her tennis ball, and she will even crawl under the bed now, when before she was too afraid. She has learned many new games, and he has put a lot of effort into befriending her. We have solved many of her behaviors, but this one has stumped us. It started with her peeing on his bed, and we evicted her from the bed. Then she peed on his dirty laundry (where she slept that night). A few weeks later she peed on his blankets that were on his couch (two in one evening), and has peed on the couch once. She has slept on my dirty laundry without peeing, and has not peed on my things in my house at all. She is highly attached to me to the point of being clingy, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Maybe she is trying to drive him away, or claim him? I cannot begin to understand why she is doing this, because there are too many variables. I believe this peeing is behavioral since it just came out of no where, and she seems to have complete bladder control otherwise. It sounds like it could be a medical problem. Very often bitches spayed before puberty spring a leak which they can’t control. I highly recommend she goes for a check at the vet. If I am correct the condition can be managed with meds.
