Kids and Dogs go together like a Love and Marriage  … or at least that’s the way it should be! But unfortunately it’s not always true because often little Johnny can’t even venture outdoors without little Jackie nipping him and making him cry.
Unfortunately the poor dog is always blamed for being out of control and dumped at the SPCA. Believe me, if the real culprit was to be disposed of, animal shelters would be bulging with unruly kids as they are almost always the real reason behind your puppy’s bad behaviour!

And here’s the shock - a puppy’s character is determined by the way it’s raised. Yeah, yeah, I know all about 50%Nature & 50% Nurture and each playing an equal role, but in my experience inherently bad dogs are extremely rare. In most cases, the puppy behaves badly because of the kids.

Question:

We have just got a male Bullterrier puppy as a playmate for my two boys aged 5 and 9 years old. The trouble is Mr. T has started biting them and become quite unmanageable, and we don’t know what to do other than give him back to the breeder. Please can you help? Letter shortened.

My advice, if you want a long and happy life, please return this puppy back to the breeder as soon as possible. Unfortunately you have chosen entirely the wrong dog for two boisterous, hyperactive kids. In fact, I will go as far as to say do not get a puppy at all because  ’screaming around’ and  ‘rough and tumbling’ with any dog is bound to turn it  into ‘a great white shark’ on legs!
Please be fair on your kids and the dog and rather buy them skateboards and trampolines until they calm down and become responsible citizens.

    Hi,

I have a yorkie puppy. She is 3 and a half months old but still isn’t potty trained.
Everytime she starts smelling around |I take her outside to do her thing. Normally I wait outside with her for halfan hour and then she still do nothing. When she comes back into the house she immediatly pee in the house.
    What can I do??

    Hi Miccy
Pmail hey? Read the article, it’s self explanatory.
Oh, and thank your lucky stars she’s not a Great Dane!
    Kind regards
    Glynne
