This pet owner needs some advice on getting her nervous cat to the vet. She also wants to know if there is such a thing as prozac for cats.
Question:
Hi there
Any tips on getting a very nervous, very clever cat to the vet? My poor Tom has licked himself into oblivion, but I can’t get him into the cat basket to get him to the vet. He is way too smart to be fooled by biltong and other treats put at the back of the basket, and as soon as he sees the basket he knows what is coming.
He has had skin complaints before that have cleared up with a special diet - but this is not responding. He is a very tightly wound cat - is it possible he needs the cat version of prozac? And does such a thing exist?
thanks for your help
Vanessa
Hi Vanessa
Okay first question first.
• Cat basket means vet – vet means painful injection!
• Catch Tom first, then go and find the basket.Second question:
• Yes there is medication which may, or may not help your nervous cat.
• Just remember with any drug there are always side effects.
• In my opinion fresh, natural food (as recommended above) and plenty of it 24/7 is natures own ‘Prozac’. Works for me!
• You may even find his skin condition clears on a natural diet.Give it a whirl.
