This soon-to-be mom is concerned about how her puppy will deal with the new baby in the family. Will the puppy be jealous?

Hi there,

Regarding pets & kids: I am 7 months pregnant and my boyfriend got me a puppy for Christmas which, as an avid dog lover, I adore!!!

My question is: when my baby is born, the puppy will be ± 5&½ months, do you think they will be able to bond, both being at such a young age?? Also do you think its possible the puppy will be jealous of the baby??

You have asked me a question about which a thesis could be written. And you have given me very few details but I feel sure if you allow your puppy to be part of the action when your baby comes home, you should not have a problem with jealousy.
You see, dogs get jealous when they have been the only ‘child’ for years … as well as a spoilt, undisciplined brat at that. Or if they have always been part of the family and suddenly they lose all their privileges when a new baby arrives.
Do check into a puppy school where you will be guided all the way.
