This dog owner is at her wits end over her new dog who is misbehaving and eating her other dog’s food. The answer? Training school.
Question:
Hi,
I have had a Maltese Poodle for the longest time and got another dog, a cross between a Labrador and German Shepherd, but the new one keeps digging up the garden, pulling the laundry off the line and eating the other dog’s food instead of his own. he keeps biting the other dog too. Please help as to what i can do; I’ve tried fastening him but it just doesn’t help, because the minute he is loose he does it all over again. I’m at my wits end with this. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Hi PJ
Have you thought of taking your dog to school where you will both be educated? If not, now is the time. Ask your vet to recommend a training school near you.
In the mean time, please do not ‘fasten’ or tie your misbehaving dog up because he will become vicious. Rather feed him small meals, four or five times a day which will calm him down considerably and stop him fighting your old Maltese for it’s food!
Do not play mad, hectic games with this dog – just keep him calm and feed him as many large, raw, meaty, knuckle bones as he will eat which divert his interest in digging holes and pulling your clean laundry off the wash line!
You educate your kids to keep them out of trouble, so why not educate your four legged friend as well, in order to make him a loyal and protective member of your family, instead of the uncouth hooligan he’s become?!
Training school is the right way to go.
